Nicole Ari Parker is an American stage and film actor known for her performance as the fierce lawyer Teri Joseph in the Showtime series Soul Food. Nikki Kodjoe became her stage name upon her marriage. Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland she showed an interest in acting from the age of five and was awarded a Best Actress award at an Maryland high school contest. Her acting diploma was earned at New York University after working for 'The Washington Ballet Company' and on stage. The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love, her debut performance in a feature film earned her a lot of respect. The film was followed by films such as 'Boogie Nights Spark and Blue Streak. Soul Food received a lot of applause for her work. Her TV appearances included Second Time Around and Empire. In the beginning of her career, she appeared in numerous stage productions. Parker is married to Boris Kodjoe, an actor and model. They have two children together.
Contractor was born at Mumbai in India and grew up in Nigeria through the age of seven. She had already experienced a lot of travel and different cultures at a very young age. After boarding school, over seven years London Her family then moved to Toronto Canada in which she lived for most of her youth and early adulthood. Contractor was a student and a dancer of classical style in Toronto. She attended the Etobicoke School of the Arts, a high school for the arts that was specifically designed to be a school where she was able to study not just dance but also drama. Contractor aged 16 at the time she realized that acting was going to be her future career. Dance was her passion for a decade. When she graduated from high school she accepted a full grant to attend Toronto's University of Toronto, where she pursued a masters in the field of theatre, and a double major in psychology and sociology. Contractor was given the lead role in Pericles following a brief time in University. She was a part of the audition for the part at Stratford Shakespeare Festival (Ontario Canada) and received. The play received rave reviews and her work in the 92 shows performed this play, which was named as the best production by Canadian critics in 2002. Contractor accepted the invitation to attend Stratford's Conservatory program. There are only eight males and four females are admitted for the 20-week course of classical theater. The role was secured for Contractor in the next series of plays as she was offered the role for the role of Hermia A Midsummer Night's Dream.
